Letters and Numbers, free and nothing to download
The two rounds of the classic TV quiz format, in the spirit of Countdown, ready to play at home in two ways. In Letters, you ask for vowels and consonants until you have nine and look for the longest word in 30 seconds. In Numbers, six numbers and a three-digit target come up, and whoever gets closest with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division wins. With one phone on the table, everyone writes their answer on paper and the app checks your calculations at the end. If everyone has a phone, create a room: you all see the same letters or numbers and the same clock, type your answer in secret and, when time is up, the app reveals them, scores them like on the show and keeps the scoreboard. Either way, it shows you how to reach the exact number.
Tips and variations
- In Letters, ask for at least three vowels: with fewer, long words are really hard to make.
- In Numbers, first look for a multiple close to the target, like 75 times 4, then adjust with the small numbers.
- Write down your word or calculation before time runs out, on paper or by sending it from your phone: anything late doesn't count.
